WELCOME!

Grade 4 students will be taking the Science NECAP this week on the 15th, 16th, and 17th.  Please encourage the children to work hard and try their best!

Thank you to those of you who attended all or some of the family nights.  You can check out some of the presentations below.

I am proud to let all of you know that our students have been raising money through our spirit days in which kids donate quarters to wear theme based clothing.  The money we raise will be used to purchase desks for kids in Malawi.  Check out K.I.N.D. (Kids In Need of Desks) on MSNBC. The student council presentation was amazing!  The KIND Facebook page shared the presentation with their followers. Thank you for all of your support.  The kids worked hard and are committed to helping others in need..

According the Science NECAP, Ashaway School has the # 1 score in the state of
Rhode Island with 86% proficiency.  We can keep moving with hard work from everyone! Congratulations!

Our teachers have been working hard during early release Thursdays and other times on learning new strategies that target vocabulary instruction based on our data analysis of past NECAP assessments and other local assessments. I will be going into each classroom to read a story and target vocabulary instruction so I look forward to these opportunities!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!  In honor of his birthday and Lorax, I rode around on a bike and delivered seeds to each student to help out Earth!

May 11th was Celebrity Day at Ashaway School. Students paid 50cents to have the staff dress a "star!"  The proceeds go towards our UNICEF Kids In Need of Desks!  I was Justin Bieber.  Enjoy

School Wide Positive Behavior Program
At Ashaway School we hold high expectations for academics and behavior for all Ashaway community members.

The school wide positive behavior program will acknowledge students for exhibiting our four expectations. Students are always being taught how to be respectful, how to be safe, how to be honest, and how to be responsible in all of the school settings.

Each staff member of the Ashaway School Community emphasizes these qualities and students are presented a "cougar claw card" to acknowledge their display of respect, responsibility, honesty, and safety.

The power point presentation below comes directly from RIDE and was modified for Ashaway School's use.
